Three charged, fired after nursing home incident

Three individuals have been charged in relation to an incident of elder abuse that is alleged to have occurred at a Brookville nursing home, according to online court documents.

The three individuals — 20-year-old Haley Shirey, 20-year-old Hannah Shirey and 20-year-old Rebekah Call, all of Strattanville, are charged in the incident, which is said to have taken place at Laurelbrooke Landing in Brookville.

Laurelbrooke Landing, which is owned by Women's Relief Corp Senior Services (WRC), told WJAC-TV that the three employees were fired, and police added that they were notified immediately by WRC after the allegations were brought to light.

Hannah and Haley Shirey are charged with strangulation (applying pressure to throat or neck), a second-degree felony; neglect of care of a dependent person, a first-degree misdemeanor; recklessly endangering another person, a second-degree misdemeanor; conspiracy-simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct engage in fighting, a third-degree misdemeanor; and harassment-subject other to physical contact, a summary offense.

Call has been charged with six different counts — conspiracy-strangulation-applying pressure to the throat or neck (felony 2); conspiracy-neglect of care dependent person (misdemeanor 1); conspiracy-recklessly endangering another person (misdemeanor 2); conspiracy-simple assault (misdemeanor 2); conspiracy-disorderly conduct engage in fighting (misdemeanor 1); and conspiracy-harassment-subject other to physical contact (summary).
